We’re past the week of romance (and Deadpool) and back to your regularly scheduled movie programming. Here are the trailers for the movies premiering this week along with details on the costumes and designers.
Storyline: Jesse Owens’ quest to become the greatest track and field athlete in history thrusts him onto the world stage of the 1936 Olympics, where he faces off against Adolf Hitler’s vision of Aryan supremacy.
An ensemble costume crew took on this project, tackling historical athletic wear both abroad and in the US.
Risen – Costume Design by Maurizio Millenotti
Storyline: Follows the epic Biblical story of the Resurrection, as told through the eyes of a non-believer. Clavius, a powerful Roman Military Tribune, and his aide Lucius, are tasked with solving the mystery of what happened to Jesus in the weeks following the crucifixion, in order to disprove the rumors of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.
Maurizio Millenotti is no stranger to designs for biblical times. He was the costume designer for The Passion of the Christ in 2004 and has worked on a number of international and domestic films.
The Witch – Costume Design by Linda Muir
Storyline: A family in 1630s New England is torn apart by the forces of witchcraft, black magic and possession.
Linda Muir has been in the business for almost 30 years and has created her fair share of creepy costumes. Her other work includes Bitten, Exotica, and The Wandering Soul Murders.
